HP govt to allocate 22 new Hydropower projects of 828 MW capacity
Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu said here on Thursday that the state government was set to allocate 22 new hydropower projects with a combined capacity of 828 MW.
This will reduce the traffic pressure on the roads besides boosting tourism activities and opening new doors of employment for the locals.

He said that the water transport service will also help in saving the precious time and money of the commuters.

Thakur, on Thursday, had conducted a survey for exploring the possibilities of water transport service from Tattapani to Kol Dam with the water transport experts and senior officers of the Transport department.

The plan has been prepared to develop tourism activities from Tattapani to Kol Dam in the first phase, he said.
He said that it is the vision of Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur to develop better tourism infrastructure in the state and the efforts are being made to start public transport through waterways which would also provide many recreational opportunities to the tourists.
The state government is giving preference to environmentally friendly development and the work is being done on a comprehensive plan to keep rivers and lakes free of pollution, he added.
