Haryana government has decided to provide 50 per cent subsidy on the onion seed to encourage the farming of Kharif onion in the state.
Principal Secretary, Agriculture and Farmer’s Welfare, Abhilaksh Likhi said that the maximum amount limit of subsidy on the onion seed is Rs 500 per kg seed or 50 per cent, whichever is less would be provided. Apart from this, the maximum quantity of seed provided is 10 kg per hectare per farmer.
He said that farmers could obtain the seed of different varieties of Kharif onion from seed sales centres of Haryana Seed Development Corporation (HSDC) and National Horticultural Research and Development Foundation (NHRDF) by just depositing their share of the amount according to rules.
The farmers would have to bring their identity proof like Aadhar card along with its photocopy, for getting the subsidy. This subsidy would be given on first-come-first-serve basis and would be applicable till the availability of subsidy amount, he added.
He said that different varieties of onion seeds available are F-1 Hybrid Vaibhav, F-1 Hybrid Roza, Amar (Research), AK-47, KS P, 86, BSS 258, K 1700, Lucifer, Topaz, NHRDF Red (L-28) and Agrifound Light Red.
