Result of UP Police constable recruitment exam declared
Based on merit, approximately two and a half times the number of available posts, 1,74,316 candidates were declared eligible for the next stage.
Another hardcore criminal having a reward of Rs 50 000 on his head was killed in an encounter with the police in Shamli on Saturday night.
The deceased criminal Akbar was a member of Mukeem Kala Gang and wanted in more than a dozen heinous cases of extortion, robberies, loot etc. He was a resident of Gargi Daula village of Shamli.
Akbar had demanded an extortion of Rs 1 crore from the brother of a Jila Panchayat member. On Saturday night he was on the way to get the extortion money when he had an encounter with the police. He sustained bullet injuries and succumbed to these while being taken to hospital.

According to SP of Shamli Ajay Pal Sharma the on duty cops cornered Akbar on Unn road of Jhinjhana town of the district at around 8.30 pm after they got a tip-off from some informer. While his aide fled away taking advantage of dark of the night Akbar had an exchange of fire with the cops in which he sustained some bullet injuries . He was immediately rushed to hospital by the police where he was declared dead.
