Taking charge as the Delhi environment minister on Monday, senior AAP leader Gopal Rai said since pollution is a big challenge during winter the government would launch the Winter Action Plan on September 25.
He assured that the government would put in all possible effort to curb pollution in the national capital.
WAP, which was scheduled to be launched on September 27, will be launched early in view of the assembly session on September 26 and 27, he added.
He said the Delhi government was the first to work so actively towards controlling pollution, and under the guidance of Arvind Kejriwal, the government reduced the pollution levels in Delhi.
He said more than 2,000 electric buses were running on Delhi roads and the electricity was available 24 hours in the national capital.
All the industries in the city are now powered by Piped Natural Gas (PNG), and this transformation was possible with the Kejriwal government at them, he asserted.
Rai said the government tried to check all the sources of pollutants. However, during winter, emergency measures are required, which have been discussed in the WAP.
He said meetings have been held with experts and officials from different departments in the past regarding the WAP, and reports have been received.
Rai said efforts would be on the completion of the work that was underway under Arvind Kejriwal’s leadership before the elections.
Meanwhile, the Delhi cabinet led by CM Atishi entrusted Rai with the responsibility of development, general administration, and environment forest and wildlife.
