A Hisar court acquitted self-styled godman Rampal in two criminal cases regarding obstruction of government officers from doing duty and rioting.
Rampal is behind bars since 2014. That year, a court ordered the police to arrest Rampal, 67, after he ignored more than 40 court summons for appearance.

When police personnel reached the headquarters of his sect, Satlok Ashram in Hisar, to arrest him, Rampal’s followers barricaded themselves inside the 12-acre premises. Power and water supply to the ashram were cut off and after a two-week standoff, he was finally arrested.
