A minor Dalit girl was forced to undergo medical termination of pregnancy (MTP) five months after being gangraped by two youths  in Kharkhauda town of the district. The accused have been arrested on the complaint of the victim’s father and the girl would record her statement before a magistrate on Tuesday.
Accused Pawan Kumar( 20) and Vineet ( 21) have been arrested and sent to jail, said Anil Anand, a trainee IPS officer, who is in-charge of Kharkhauda police station. He said that a case under POCSO and ST/ ST Act has been registered against the accused.
The accused allegedly tried to strike a comprise through the panchayat by making an offer of Rs 3 lakh to the victim’s family, but the girl’s father refused to accept the money and decided to lodge a complaint, SP (rural) Rajesh Kumar said.
“We are also trying to identify persons involved in panchayat and the doctor who conducted the abortion,” said the SP.
The 15-year-old girl was allegedly raped by the accused about five months back when she was alone at her home.  The boys are residents of a village in Kharkhauda area while the girl lived in the outskirts of the town.
After the girl conceived, the accused arranged for her abortion at a private clinic in neighbouring Hapur district with the help of their family members.
The girl, however, kept silent and her family came to know about the matter after her condition deteriorated. The victim’s family raised the issue with the families of the accused and an offer of Rs 3 lakh was reportedly made to settle the issue.
However, the girl’s father refused to accept the money and lodged a complaint at Kharkhauda police station on April 20, after which the accused were arrested.
The girl’s family is also receiving threats from the families of the accused, the SP said. He said further action will be taken after the girl records her statement before a magistrate on Tuesday.
