The activists of Nab Nirman Krushak Sangthan (NNKS) staged a “rail roko” at Gualipur of Cuttack- Paradip railway line to fulfill their demands on Monday.
The farmers body which has launched a hunger strike at Bhubaneswar since 12 March took to “rail roko” as the government had not responded to demands of price, pension and prestige for farmers.
They want the MSP to be enhanced and a social security cover of Rs 5,000 per month to 36 lakh farmers . Others demands are allocation of Rs 21,600 crore in the budget for all the farmers and pension for the farmers on attaining 60 years of age.
Showing solidarity towards indefinite stir and hunger strike in Bhubaneswer being organised by Nab Nirman Krushak Sangthan, hundreds of farmers under the banner of NNKS demonstrated “rail roko” at Gualipur in which goods and passenger trains have been stranded at different railway stations.
The farmers were led by Mr Devi Prasad Moharana and Rasmiranjan & others squatted on mass dharana on railway line at Gualipur.
