To celebrate ‘Ujjwala Diwas’ on 20 April, gas connections will be given to the eligible families in Haryana.
An official spokesperson said Haryana government has decided to celebrate ‘Ujwala Diwas’ which is being celebrated all over the country under the Union ministry of petroleum and natural gas on 20 April with the aim of enrolling eight crore LPG customers as part of the ‘Gram Swaraj Abhiyan’.

The Haryana government will also celebrate the occasion in a befitting manner in all districts of the state on April 20. The state level function will be organised in district Ambala on the same day. The minister of state for food, civil supplies and consumer affairs, Karan Dev Kamboj would preside over this function.
The spokesperson said Kamboj would distribute gas connections to the eligible families during the function under the Ujwala Scheme. He said that the Ujwala Diwas would be celebrated in collaboration with Oil Companies.
The drive will be led by the ministry through its public sector oil marketing companies to promote amongst the rural consumers, the safe and sustained use of LPG through peer group interactions on a large scale.
Under Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY), more than 3.57 crore households have been given LPG connections in order to end their dependence on polluting fuels for cooking and reduce indoor pollution.
