Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur on Saturday flagged off the electrical bus services of Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) to conserve environment and reduce vehicular emissions.
The service has been launched under the Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Electric Vehicles (FAME) scheme of Union government in 90:10 ratio.
Thakur flagged off 11 electric vans for local destination in Shimla from the State Secretariat on nine different routes.The fair of taxi service has been fixed at par with already existing HRTC taxi service, already operating within Municipal Corporation limits of the town.
The taxis will operate from the State Secretariat to Indira Gandhi Medical College and Hospital (IGMC), Old Bus stand to HP Secretariat, Dhalli Tunnel to IGMC, Boileauganj to Central Telegraph Office (CTO), Old Bus Stand to CTO, Tuttikandi crossing to CTO, Navbahar to IGMC, Summerhill to CTO.
