EC suspends 7 policemen over charges of rigging UP bypolls
The Election Commission on Wednesday suspended seven policemen over complaints of rigging of Uttar Pradesh bypolls.
With counting of votes scheduled on 18 December, Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Pushpendra Rajput reviewed arrangements for the same in the state with all District Election Officers through video conferencing.
Rajput asked DEOs to ensure all arrangements for counting by 15 December, 2017 positively and also to implement the guidelines of the commission.
Quick response code reader used in postal ballot counting have been provided for use in postal ballot counting, Rajout said, adding that containers for counting of VVPAT slips have also been procured and supplied to all Returning Officers (ROs).

Mobile phones beyond second cordon of security will be prohibited in the counting. Media centers will also be set up in all the counting centres.
Deputy Election Commissioner Sandeep Saxena also reviewed counting arrangements with Chief Electoral Officer, District Election Officers and Returning Officers.
