BJP MP from Delhi North West constituency Udit Raj announced on Tuesday that he would resign from the party if the party did not field him in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
The party has announced candidates on six Delhi seats but is yet to name a candidate for North West, and the sitting MP fears he may not be considered.
“I am waiting for ticket. If not given to me, I will bid goodbye to party,” Udit Raj tweeted.

According to reports, Udit Raj plans to contest the elections even if denied a ticket. Stating that he would wait for some time, the MP said he would file his nomination at 10 am after quitting the party.
On Monday midnight, Raj reached the Delhi BJP office on Pant Marg accompanied by his supporters who created a ruckus after spotting Punjabi singer Hans Raj Hans there.
According to reports, BJP may name Hans as its North West Delhi (reserved) candidate.
Delhi will go to polls on 12 May.
In a series of tweets on Monday, Raj had said he hoped the BJP would not betray Dalits in the country.
“I merged my party in the BJP, crores of my supporters are worried over my ticket. My name has not been declared from the North West Delhi seat yet. My supporters have decided to wait till 4 PM today,” Raj has posted.
Raj had merged his Indian Justice Party (IJP) with the BJP and contested the Lok Sabha election from North-West Delhi in 2014. he has been a vocal supporters of Dalit rights.
He said he had tried to speak to BJP chief Amit Shah and Prime Minister Narendra Modi about his ticket but did not get any response.
“I tried to talk to BJP president Amit Shah many times and sent him SMS as well. I also tried to talk to Prime Minister Narendra Modi,” he tweeted.
Raj had taken views not aligned with the party’s on occasions such as the Sabrimala issue, and also the ‘Bharat Bandh’ called by Dalit organisations last year.
