Two illegal arms suppliers were arrested from the national capital area, an official said on Friday.
Firoz Khan (age 24) and Rizwan (age 24), both natives of Loni, Uttar Pradesh, were named as the defendants.
According to DCP (Crime Branch) Vichitra Veer of the Delhi Police, the police frequently keep strong monitoring in regions of West Delhi, Outer Delhi, as well as the border areas of Delhi because these areas are home to many residents who come from Delhi’s neighboring states.
On June 17, information was acquired that a certain illegal arms dealer named Firoz would be coming close to Bhalswa Jheel, Bhalswa Dairy Delhi, in order to deliver illegal weapons to an unidentified individual.
Subsequently, a team was constituted which was deployed near the designated spot near Bhalswa Jheel along with the informer and a trap was laid.
“The suspect Firoz carrying a bag on his back was spotted. On checking of his bag, 2 pistols of .32 bore with 10 rounds and three country-made pistols of .315 bore with 3 rounds were recovered,” the DCP said.
As a result, the police detained the accused Firoz and filed a complaint under articles 25, 54, and 59 of the Arms Act.
During questioning, the suspect acknowledged his involvement in the crime and disclosed that he had given a pistol to Rizwan a few days prior. As a result, Rizwan was also detained on Firoz’s request.
In order to find further suspects and the source of illegal weapons and ammunition, more research and questioning are being conducted. The official indicated that further arrests and recoveries are imminent.
