In another selfie-related death, a 23-year-old man was killed after a licensed pistol which his cousin was holding went-off accidentally.

The incident occurred at New Delhi’s Sarita Vihar area on Thursday.

As per The Indian Express report, the deceased has been identified as Prashant Chauhan, a school teacher in Shahdara.

He was visiting his aunt’s house in Sarita Vihar. He, along with his minor cousin, started clicking selfies. The cousins were posing with the pistol, which belongs to the father of the minor boy, when the 17-year-old accidentally pressed the trigger.

Police said they have registered a case and are taking legal action against the 17-year-old boy. Police added they may take action against the boy’s father for letting the pistol fall into the hands of his minor son.

After the incident, the family rushed Prashant to Apollo Hospital but was declared dead on arrival by the hospital authorities.

As per reports, the police said they had received a call from the hospital authorities that at about 6.35 pm about a man was admitted to hospital with a gunshot injury.

The body of the deceased has been taken by the police for postmortem examination and have launched a probe into the incident.

Last month, a man from Hyderabad was hit by a speeding train as he attempted to pose for a selfie along the tracks near Bharat Nagar railway station.

The man, identified as Shiva, was later admitted to a private hospital for injuries to the head and hand.

The video of the incident had gone viral in which, Shiva, who hails from Warangal in Telangana, is seen pointing at the approaching Multi-Modal Transport System (MMTS) train while looking into the camera.
