Welcoming the Election Commission’s decision to recommend disqualification of 20 AAP MLAs accused in the office-of-profit matter, Delhi BJP president Manoj Tiwari said it was a moral defeat for Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and he should own responsibility and resign immediately.
While hailing the decision, Tiwari regretted that the Election Commission allowed “undue adjournments” to the AAP MLAs. “Taking advantage of EC’s long adjournments, these MLAs have not only looted and cheated the people of Delhi but also denied development. Taking advantage of this delay, AAP has succeeded in sending three members to Rajya Sabha and in the process has also sullied the image of the Upper House,” said Tiwari. He said the Delhi BJP is prepared for elections at any time. Terming the recommendation as “better late than never”, Leader of Opposition Vijender Gupta said it is a huge moral defeat for Kejriwal. “It has put his leadership in peril. He must resign on ethical grounds and seek a fresh mandate,” he said.

The LOP said he would request the President to give speedy approval to the recommendations of the Election Commission.
“There is no point in dilly-dallying tactics of AAP MLAs seeking relief from the court. AAP must apologise to the nation for denigrating and humiliating the august constitutional offices on disqualification of its 20 MLAs,” demanded Gupta.
