Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva on Tuesday took a jibe at the Congress after the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) offered it one out of the seven parliamentary seats in Delhi.

“Aam Aadmi Party today offered Congress only one seat out of seven in Delhi, thus showing Congress its ground situation,” the Delhi BJP chief said referring to AAP national general secretary organisation Sandeep Pathak’s statement on the seat-sharing between Congress and AAP.

He further said, “Congress is in a situation where even small parties believe that there is no political benefit in allying with Congress. Instead, Congress may benefit, which is why leaders of smaller parties are condemning Congress leaders.”

Sachdeva also exuded confidence that BJP will win all the seven Lok Sabha seats in Delhi.

“Whether there is an alliance between AAP and Congress or not, BJP will win all 7 Delhi Lok Sabha seats with over 65 per cent vote share,” he said.

In the last general elections, the BJP won all the seven parliamentary seats in Delhi.

Earlier in the day, Pathak while addressing a press conference, announced that of the seven parliamentary seats in Delhi, the AAP will field its candidates on six seats.

He said the decision has been taken keeping in mind the winnability and merit as well as at the same time honoring the alliance dharma.

“The Congress Party has zero seats in the Lok Sabha and has zero seats in the Legislative Assembly. They have only 9 seats out of 250 in MCD. If we look at the complete data, Congress does not have a share of even a single seat. But the data is not the only important thing. It is the religion of alliance (INDIA) and honoring the alliance and the Congress demand, our proposal is that the Congress should contest on one seat and the Aam Aadmi Party should contest on six seats,” he said.

Pathak further said, “We are not announcing the candidates today. I hope that the talks about Delhi will start soon and conclude very soon. So that we all start working. And if there is still no conclusion, then in the next few days we will announce the candidates for those six seats and we will start our preparation for the election.”
