The single-day count of Covid-19 cases in the national capital shot up to 5,481 on Tuesday with the positivity rate rising to 8.37 per cent, according to the latest health bulletin issued by the Delhi government. These cases were detected out of 65,487 tests conducted for the purpose.

The virus claimed three lives, taking the cumulative count of such fatalities to 25,113. The loss of lives this month has been reported every day so far with the maximum number of fatalities recorded today.

There were 8,593 patients who were getting treatment at home and the number of active cases stood at 14,889.

The count of containment zones increased to 2,992 from 1,243 on January 1.

However, only 247 patients remained admitted to hospitals though there were 8,883 hospital beds reserved for such patients. The patients getting oxygen support were counted to be 168 and those put on the ventilator numbered 14.

The health bulletin showed that 1,85,595 persons were administered vaccine doses during the past 24 hours and 92,928 were those who got their fist vaccine dose. The cumulative count of people having got their first vaccine dose was 1,53,59,453 and the number of those who got inoculated with both doses was 1,12,98,379.
