After inspecting various structures which posed risk to human life, the North Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC) identified 49 buildings in its jurisdiction as ‘dangerous’.
As per the official report, out of total 7, 58, 206 properties falling under its jurisdiction, the North Corporation carried out a survey of 71, 6793 houses/buildings till 1 July this year.
During the exercise, 49 buildings have been identified to be unfit for human dwelling and have been listed as ‘dangerous properties’.

The survey data shows that with 26 unsafe structures, the Old Delhi Zone has the highest number of such buildings; the Narela Zone has 18 such buildings; Rohini Zone has three, while one each has been reported from the Keshav Puram Zone and Civil Lines Zone respectively.
The Karol Bagh Zone does not have any building(s) categorised as dangerous.
Early this year, in the month of February, two building had collapsed in Devnagar area of Karol Bagh.
“The owners of these properties have been served notices under section 348 of Delhi Municipal Corporation Act,” said a civic official.
The civic body has asked the owners of these ‘dangerous buildings’ to “either repair their respective properties immediately or to demolish the dangerous portions”.
Annual surveys of buildings/structures are conducted by the engineering departments of the civic bodies before the monsoon. The South Corporation and East Corporation are yet to present their survey report regarding the dangerous buildings in their respective jurisdictional areas.
