The Garden of Five Senses in New Delhi has once again blossomed into a haven of natural splendor as the 36th edition of the Garden Tourism Festival draws to a close.
Organised by Delhi Tourism, in cooperation with the Delhi Government, this annual celebration of nature’s beauty and the onset of spring has enraptured visitors with its vibrant displays and enlightening initiatives, and been a resounding success
Today, the festival received a notable guest as Delhi Tourism Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj graced the occasion, reaffirming the Kejriwal Government’s dedication to environmental consciousness and the thriving floriculture of Delhi.
While visiting the Garden Tourism Festival, Bharadwaj spoke to reporters, saying that today marks the 36th edition of the Delhi government’s Tourism Festival.
He said this Tourism Festival of Delhi is the largest in the country, with various private and governmental organizations such as DDA, NDMC, PWD, MCD, Railways, all participating in the competition centered around flowers and plants. Prizes are awarded to the institutions that achieve first, second, and third places in the competition.
The Delhi Tourism Minister emphasized that the most significant aspect is that this event promotes the environment.
Beautiful flowers and plants are the simplest ways to connect with nature, and it is being observed that people are now creating kitchen gardens and terrace gardens at home to enhance the environment and beautify their surroundings.
“The festival has attracted a diverse crowd, including people from ordinary and affluent families, housewives, and individuals from all walks of life, who are inspired by the exquisite gardening on display to replicate it in their own homes,” he added.
Bharadwaj expressed great satisfaction in seeing the overwhelming turnout of visitors at the festival and commended the active participation of people and various organizations in today’s event.
Spanning 20 acres of lush greenery, the festival has provided a much-needed respite from the demands of urban living, offering attendees a tranquil escape into nature’s embrace.
The theme of this year’s festival, “The Earth Laughs in Flowers,” encapsulated the essence of spring’s arrival, showcasing the captivating transformation of the earth into a floral wonderland.
Visitors to the festival have been treated to a dazzling array of plant categories, including cacti, dahlias, lilies, roses, chrysanthemums, and an assortment of potted plants.
The diverse display has allowed guests to immerse themselves in the beauty and diversity of flora, appealing to the young and old alike with its universal enchantment.
Key participants in the festival included the Horticulture Department, Delhi Development Authority (DDA), Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), Northern Railway, and Delhi Jal Board, among others.
Attendees also had the opportunity to explore a range of horticultural products, from fresh plants to garden equipment, fertilizers, and more, available for purchase.
