A new born baby was reportedly stolen from the Guru Teg Bahadur (GTB) Hospital, even before her mother could have seen her in the hospital. It is being alleged that the hospital staff handed the girl child to an unknown woman without checking her identity. The woman fled the hospital with the child.
One of the family members alleged that the incident took place on December 23. But, after four days of the incident, the local police failed to trace the child. Apart from the local police, a team of special staff has also been assigned to nab the kidnapper.
On the other hand, the mother of the child, Pooja Sharma, , who is also an asthma patient, is yearning to see the child. According to the family members, Pooja is undergoing treatment at the hospital since she underwent an operation during the birth of her child. She is still unaware of the fact, as she has been told that the child is under observation in the nursery. As the hapless mother’s condition has started deteriorating she is repeatedly asking to see her child, and not taking food or medicines properly.

Meanwhile, police officials are claiming to recover the child safely. But, with each passing day, the concern of the family members for the child is tipping on.
Levelling allegations of negligence on the hospital, grandmother of the child Poonam said that the hospital staff handed over the child to the accused woman, despite the family members being present outside the operation theatre. Not only this, the staff got the admission form filled up from her, while handing over the child, without checking her identity.
As per sources, the child was taken to the nursery of the hospital for check-up, from where, the accused woman ran away with the child.
According to the victim’s grandmother, everyone from the family was waiting eagerly to have the first glimpse of the child, but couldn’t do so. Even the mother had taken a hazy glimpse, since she underwent an operation during the birth of the child.
The police are trying to search the child and the accused.
