The Delhi Police have arrested two men for robbing senior citizens of valuables after entering their homes on the pretext of providing medical services posing as medical attendants, the police said on Tuesday.

The duo has been identified as Rinku alias Ankit Kumar and Pramod Kumar, both hailing from Uttar Pradesh.

They targeted senior citizens in need of medical attention. They would gather all the information about their prey through portals like Just Dial and other service providers listed online before carrying out their sinister mission.

They came into the limelight on October 11 after a complaint was received at the Patel Nagar police station alleging that a person named Ankit was hired as an attendant for an 85-year-old who fled away with jewellery and cash from the house of the senior citizen.

The police registered a case and scanned CCTV footage of the spot and found a man walking out of the house while another was waiting for him outside.

Initially, the police apprehended Rinku from his residence in Greater Noida on the basis of technical surveillance before nabbing Pramod from Bulandshahr at his instance.

Interestingly, the duo always kept masks on while at the patient’s house, to avoid identification. While Rinku Kumar is inside a house to attend to their potential target, Pramod would keep a vigil outside.

They have been involved in three criminal cases earlier, but so far, there are no reports of the duo physically harming any of its victims, the police added
