Two held as cops unearth drug cartel in city
Two people including a Nigerian national were arrested for distributing restricted drugs across the nation with the seizure of naro-substance worth Rs 4 crore.
In a bid for the adoption of clean energy, the Delhi Police on Wednesday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Solar Energy Corporation of India Ltd (SECI) for the installation of solar power panels on the rooftops of over their 200 buildings across the national capital.
The power generation from the proposed solar energy systems will not only reduce Delhi Police’s power bills, but they will also fulfil its “clean energy mission” in the city, its statement said.
Solar panels will be installed on the rooftops of about 200 Delhi Police buildings in the national capital by 2020.

Deciding to go green, the Delhi Police had expressed an interest in utilising the vacant spaces on the roofs of its many buildings to harness solar energy and to cater to the electricity demands of the police department.
The agreement was signed between the senior SECI officials and Delhi Police in the presence of Delhi Police Commissioner Amulya Patnaik on Wednesday at the city police headquarters.
Delhi Police has more than 200 buildings spread across the national capital and their electricity requirements are quite significant, the statement said.
A public sector unit under the Union Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, SECI, will help Delhi Police in generating power for itself from the solar panels installed on the rooftops of its office buildings including the police headquarters.
Patnaik hoped that this initiative will be followed by other government departments and state police forces in the coming days.
