In a sensational case of suicide, an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) of the Delhi Traffic Police has reportedly committed suicide by shooting himself in his forehead with his service pistol in the Dwarka District of Delhi.

The incident is said to have occurred on Tuesday morning, when the dead body of the deceased ASI was found lying in mysterious conditions at an isolated place in a park located in the area of Dwarka Sector-23 police station. His service pistol was still in his hand and a gunshot injury on his forehead.

On receipt of the information about the incident, a police team of Dwarka Sector-23 police station reached the spot and after examination of the spot, shifted the dead body to the mortuary of a hospital.

The deceased has been identified as ASI Ashok Kumar, who was posted at Tughlak Road Traffic Circle at present.

According to the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Dwarka District), M Harshvardhan, information about the incident was received at about 9 am on Tuesday morning. The caller informed them that a male dead body is lying in the District Park of Dwarka Sector-19.

Immediately a police team reached the spot and found that the deceased had committed suicide using his service pistol.

After the examination of the spot, the body was shifted to the nearby hospital. No, suicide note has been recovered from the deceased.

The police are talking to the family of the deceased to find out the real reason behind this extreme step. They are even trying to figure out if the ASI was having any mental stress or if he was in any kind of depression in the recent past?

As stated by his family, the 55-years-old Ashok had left home for his duty yesterday. On Tuesday, he returned home, but after some time, he again left the home saying that he was going for his duty.

The DCP said that prima facie the incident appears to be a case of suicide. However, an inquest proceeding is being conducted to ensure the reason behind the incident. Depending upon the inquiry, further legal action will be taken.
