The Delhi unit of the Congress on Monday staged a protest over the alleged attack on Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra-led by party leader Rahul Gandhi by BJP workers in Assam.

Members of the Congress under the leadership of its Delhi president Arvinder Singh Lovely held the demonstration at the gate of the party’s office after they were stopped by the police personnel from marching towards the BJP headquarters. They shouted slogans while holding aloft placards against the ruling dispensation.

Addressing the members of the party, Lovely said, “The attack on the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra by the BJP goons in Assam points towards BJP’s restlessness and fear at the tremendous response Rahul Gandhi’s Nyay Yatra was receiving as it was raising the voice of the people.”

“Congress follows the non-violent path shown by father of the nation Mahatma Gandhi, and never indulges in the politics of vendetta,” he said.

Asserting that the party is waging an ideological battle, Lovely said, “Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra was to get justice for  women, youth, workers, farmers and for bhagidari. Congress will not be browbeaten by the high-handed behavior by the BJP.”

Notably, the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra which kicked off from Manipur’s Imphal on January 14, is currently in Meghalaya.
