Delhi: Conference held on causes and treatment of heart failure

The conference was inaugurated by Union Minister for Consumer Affairs Ram Vilas Paswan.

Dr T S Kler, chairman of the PSRI Heart Institute in New Delhi, organised a conference highlighting the causes of heart failure among people in India.

The India Heart Failure Summit 2018, held on April 21-22, was attended by 500 delegates from all over India, Nepal and Bangladesh. Speakers included national and international faculty, covering all aspects of the problem, its causes and treatment.

The objective of the maiden summit was to bring into focus the need for comprehensive care and holistic management of heart by integrating knowledge from different disciplines of cardiology, such as clinical cardiology, cardiac surgery, interventional cardiology, cardiac electrophysiology, cardiac imaging etc.

The conference, inaugurated by Union Minister for Consumer Affairs Ram Vilas Paswan, also devoted a session to primary prevention of heart failure.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr T S Kler, a Padma Bhushan awardee, said, “Today, if the patient is wise and can afford, nobody with heart failure should die. We have all advanced treatment of heart failure in India, including cardiac resynchronisation therapy, heart transplantation and implantation of artificial heart.”
