However, with the winds prominent across plains in the northern region, the national capital’s maximum temperature during the day time pegged two- notches below the season’s average at 17.7 degrees Celsius, as per the weather agency.

In the city, the speed of wind witnessed an increase, which was up to 9.4 km/ hr, according to the Indian Institute of Tropical meteorology (IITM).

The sky was mainly clear during the day, with sun providing much comfort to the residents of the city during the day, however, mercury began to dip towards the evening hours.

For Sunday, the weatherman has forecast ‘cold day’ conditions, with minimum and maximum temperatures to hover around 9 to 18 degrees Celsius respectively.

Talking of the city’s air quality, the average Air Quality Index (AQI) remained in the ‘very poor’ category, with the index value of 329, according to the Central Pollution Control Board(CPCB).

The IITM has said that city’s air is likely to remain in the very poor zone on Sunday, however, is likely to further witness improvement on Monday, stepping down to the poor category, which could be attributed to the wind speed.

“The air quality is likely to be in Very Poor category on 20.01.2024 and 21.01.2024. The air quality is likely to improve but remain in Poor category on 22.01.2024. The air quality is likely to be in Very Poor category on 23.01.2024. The outlook for subsequent 6 Days: The air quality is likely to remain in the Poor to Very Poor category,” the IITM bulletin on AQI said on Saturday.
