AAP triumphs in mayor, deputy mayoral polls in MCD
AAP’s Mahesh Kumar Khichi defeated his BJP rival with a narrow margin of three votes, securing 133 votes against Kishan Lal’s 130.
Delhi’s ruling AAP on Wednesday said that the BJP was lying to people that the former was responsible for allotment of two landfill sites in the city, saying the decision was taken by the Central government-controlled Delhi Development Authority (DDA).
Earlier this week, DDA had given in principle approval for allotment of land for two landfill sites in Sonia Vihar and Ghonda Gujran in the city.
“Sonia Vihar and Ghonda are densely populated areas and lakhs of people stay in nearby areas. By dumping waste there, lakhs of people will be affected,” Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Dilip Pandey told media here.

He said that though it was done by the DDA, which was under the Central Government, the Bharatiya Janata Partys’ (BJP) Delhi chief Manoj Tiwari was blaming the AAP for it.
“So how did DDA give land for landfill sites? Manoj Tiwari himself is an MP from trans-Yamuna region and he is lying to his people,” Pandey said, adding the BJP was misleading the people and lying as its incompetence has come to people’s notice.
