In a bid to provide better treatment for patients, the Arvind Kejriwal led Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government is planning to introduce “Aam Aadmi health card” which will cover all 1.8 crore residents of Delhi. The holder of the card will be entitled to free healthcare services in the state-run hospitals and those running on public-private partnership (PPP) model.
As per the scheme, a person having this health card will be given priority for registration for outdoor services. The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) has invited expression of interest (EOI) from companies and agencies to design and develop the software for Aadhaar-based verification and issuance of the health card.

The deadline for submitting the EOI is February 28. A voter identity card of Delhi is mandatory for availing the Aam Aadmi Health Card, which will be issued by Department of Health and Family Welfare, for individuals above 18 years. Similarly, the Aadhaar card number is required for anyone above the age of one.
“Persons having the health card will be eligible for free treatment in hospitals run by the state government, mohalla clinics, polyclinics and those running on PPP mode,” the notice issued by the DHGS reads. Once implemented, it will be the second biggest health scheme launched by the AAP government in the recent times.
