HAWS pays homage to indomitable spirit of ‘Mountain Warriors’
The grand celebration commemorated the school’s rich legacy of contributions to national defence, adventure sports, and mountaineering.
In the first-ever such mishap in Gulmarg, seven people, four of them tourists, were killed in a cable car (gandola) mishap at the famous ski-resort of Gulmarg in north Kashmir's Baramulla district.
Four of victims belonged to a family from Shalimar Bagh in Delhi. They have been identified as Jayant Andraskar, his wife Manshea Andraskar and their two daughters Anagha and Janhvi, he said. Three locals, believed to be tourist guides, were also killed, the police official said.

The mishap occurred when the cable snapped after a tree fell on it. Police said the tree got uprooted due to strong winds.

About 15 cable cars were still stranded and army personnel were carrying out the rescue operations.
