Customs foils smuggling of cocaine valued Rs 12.33 crore at IGIA

The Delhi Customs foiled an attempt to smuggle cocaine worth Rs 12.33 crore at the Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA). According to the Customs, a passenger arriving from Nairobi, Kenya was intercepted using advanced Profiling techniques while he tried to exit the green channel.

The Delhi Customs foiled an attempt to smuggle cocaine worth Rs 12.33 crore at the Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA). According to the Customs, a passenger arriving from Nairobi, Kenya was intercepted using advanced Profiling techniques while he tried to exit the green channel. On being questioned, he admitted to carrying narcotic substances concealed within his body. He voluntarily submitted himself for a medical extraction procedure.

He was placed under expert medical supervision and the officers conducted a meticulous ejection process. After several rounds, 77 capsules containing a white powdery substance were recovered and tests confirmed the substance to be cocaine, weighing 822 grams, the official elaborated.

The seized narcotic substance is expected to have an international value around Rs 12.33 crore, which may vary based on demand, they said. The individual was arrested on January 4 under Section 43(b) for violating multiple provisions of the NDPS Act and the narcotic substance was seized under Section 43(a) of the same Act.
