Good Governance Award Scheme by Haryana to recognize outstanding public service
The state government has notified the ‘Haryana Good Governance Award Scheme 2024’ (Haryana Sushaasan Puraskaar Yojana 2024).
Accusing Manohar Lal Khattar-led Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in Haryana of failing to curb mining mafia in the state, Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Ashok Tanwar on Monday alleged that illegal sand mining was going on in the state on a large scale.
Addressing a Press conference, he alleged that illegal mining of sand was under on a large scale in Yamunanagar. Apart from this illegal sand mining was going on in Karnal district and other places too. Apart from this, illegal mining was going on in Aravalli range in Bhiwani district and CharkhiDadri, he added.
Suspecting involvement of government officials and BJP leaders into the alleged Three Lakh Crore mining scam, Tanwar accused the contractors shielded by the government, were continuing with the mining of sand without permission in the district.

He said, “Illegal sand mining is going on in the district even during the night, whereas, according to rules, mining could not take place during late hours. The said unlawful activity is going. In fact, the state government is aware of this fact, however, nothing is being done by the government to curb it because the ruling party’s MLAs and other leaders are involved in it.”
Tanwar said that all the information was sought under the RTI information and videos were also captured showing that illegal sand mining was going on and overloaded vehicles carrying sand could be easily seen plying on roads in the state.
The mining hazard has not only caused adverse ecological impacts in River Yamuna basin, but also put lives of locals in danger as various health problems were being witnesses in the said area due to this man made disaster, Tanwar added.
The Congress leader further stated that his party was preparing a chargesheet on the said scam and it would be made public in coming time.
Apart from mining scam, we would also prepare chargesheets on the alleged scams took place in Haryana’s Health and Education departments, he said.
