The Punjab government school teachers can soon apply for leave on an online portal which being developed by the education department to provide easy, hassle free and transparent services to its employees.
The portal would be helpful in enabling the teachers to get any kind of leave sanctioned while sitting at home. This was disclosed by the education minister, Aruna Chaudhary, on Tuesday.

The minister said that in keeping with the commitment of the Captain Amarinder Singh led state government to ensure corruption free services to the people, the education department is developing a software which would enable teachers to apply for any type of leave besides getting other approvals.

The minister further elaborated that the department has set a target of three months to develop the software and make it operational.
She also said that after the beginning of this portal, the teachers would not have to make rounds of district education office.
Chaudhary also disclosed that the there are around 1.25 lakh employees in the education department the majority of which are women.
She also said that as of now, the teachers have to make endless rounds of the district education offices or the head office for getting approval for ex-India leave, maternity leave and childcare leave.
But, with the operationalising of this portal, the teacher would need to upload his or her application on the portal for approval which would be accorded by the competent authority.
