“Both Ravinder and Manish have been booked under charges of attempt to murder along with another person who was accompanying them at the time of crime,” told the CMO adding that any such activity would not be tolerated in the department.
Tension started between Dr Satish Bhaskar and Dr Amit Bharti of Hastinapur Health Centre over a minor issue. Being the in-charge of the centre, Dr Bhaskar demanded an explanation from Dr Bharti for being absent from duty for a few days.
The CMO said that the issue was settled in the meeting of Government Doctors Association on Thursday evening in the presence of the two doctors. At the meeting, Dr Chandan Prakash supported Dr Bhaskar in the matter.
This allegedly infuriated the CMO’s driver, who is a distant relative of Dr Bharti. In a fit of rage, Nagar allegedly shot Dr Prakash when he was speaking on his mobile phone shortly after the meeting in the CMO office.
Ravinder then fled along with the ward boy and a third person who was with them during the attack.
Dr Prakash was rushed to a hospital where he was operated. His condition is now stable and is expected to fully recover soon.
The CMO office informed the police and an FIR was registered following which the arrests were made.
Raids are being conducted to nab other accused.
“We have arrested prime accused Nagar and his aides would also be arrested soon,” said Ram Araj, circle officer of Civil Lines adding that they have recommended the cancellation of the arms license of the accused Nagar.
