Himachal Pradesh chief minister Virbhadra Singh on Thursday said the classes in Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Government Medical College, Chamba would commence from this academic session.

Singh said the land for the construction of medical college has been identified at Sarol where the sheep breeding farm was housed at present. He blamed the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for ignoring the area in terms of development and said it was the habit of BJP to take credit of works done by the Congress. He cautioned the people not to fall prey to the nefarious designs of the BJP in assembly elections as many leaders in BJP would try to lure the voters by making false allegations.

He also assured to look into setting up Solar Plant in the valley and said that the construction of Micro Hydel Projects ‘Maahlu Nallah’ Phase-II and one at Dharwas would only be considered on the basis of viability and after conducting a survey.

He said that Pangi had witnessed revolution in terms of development. “There was a time when the area had no access to the roads but after the Resident Commissioner was posted at Killar in Pangi in the year 1986, there was no look back and the valley witnessed a ray of development and progressed slowly,” he said.

The heavy machinery and the dozers were air dropped for construction of roads and as of today, the total road length in the valley was 271 kilometers excluding (excluding) 58 kilometers of road length constructed by Border Roads Organization from Karu Nallah to Sansari Nallah, he added.
