Haryana Director General of Police (DGP) Manoj Yadava on Tuesday said Union Ministry of Home Affairs has allocated a total of 120 companies of security forces including Central Armed Police Forces to ensure free, fair and peaceful conduct of General Election to Haryana Assembly in the state.
Yadava said that out of 120 coys, 30 companies have already arrived in Haryana which along with State Police Force are conducting flag march in the districts to build a sense of confidence, trust and security among the voters from October 1 onwards. The other 90 coys would be inducted by October 10, 2019. “Our Police teams are constantly monitoring each and everything and preparations are going on at every level for the forthcoming election, he added”.
Divulging the details about the security arrangements for upcoming polls, additional director general of police, law and order, Navdeep Singh Virk said that Haryana has got five companies of Central Reserve Police Force, 11 of Border Security Force and 16 of Central Industrial Security Force to ensure peaceful conduct of elections.
Apart from this, Centre had also allocated 5 companies each from Himachal Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh and Chandigarh, 15 from Punjab, 10 each from Rajasthan and Tripura, eight each from Mizoram and Meghalaya, three each from Sikkim and Uttrakhand, six from Manipur and 10 companies of Haryana State Armed Police and Indian Reserve Battalions.
In addition, more than 55,000 cops of State Police force including Home Guards and Special Police Officers would also pressed into service to ensure proper law and order during the election process in the state.
Virk said that DGP Yadava had already directed all the senior police functionaries including district police chiefs to remain alert and make extra preparation for the smooth conduct of elections.
Security agencies have also intensified the vigil in the state in the run-up to the election day. Nobody will be allowed to disrupt the polling process. We have already nabbed a number of most-wanted and other criminals, besides seizing huge cache of illicit liquor, drugs and unaccounted cash ahead of polls. Anyone who will try to disturb law and order and disrupt the polling process will be dealt with severely as per law, he added. Polling for 90 seats of Haryana Assembly will take place on 21 October.
