Giving this information on Thursday, additional director general of police (law and order) Navdeep Singh Virk said that based on the intelligence and other inputs, police had so far seized 14,850 bottles of country-made liquor, 7,442 bottles of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) and 723 bottles of beer from various districts in the state.
Haryana Police have so far seized a total of 23,015 bottles of illicit liquor and over 132 kilogram (kg) 683 gram narcotic substance including heroin, opium, poppy husk, ganja, smack and charas since 21 September when the model code of conduct for General Elections to Haryana Assembly came into force.

It also seized 80 kg 403 gram ganja, 41 kg 840 gram poppy husk, 108 gram 60 miligram of heroin, 5 kg opium, 1 kg 921 gram smack, 925 gram charas and 634 gram chitha. In addition to recovery of 15 kg lahan and 399 prohibited pharma pills, Police had also seized counterfeit currency with the face value of Rs 14.94 lakh.

Virk said that Haryana Police, under the supervision of Director General of Police, (DGP) Manoj Yadava, is continuing crackdown on supply of illicit liquor, narcotics, illegal weapons, flow of cash and any other activity that can hamper and disrupt the polling process.
Close coordination is being maintained with law enforcement agencies of neighbouring states to keep a close vigil at interstate nakas. In order to maintain law and order, 73,758 licensed arms have so far been deposited by the people in Police Stations across Haryana. He said that elaborate arrangements have been made to ensure free, fair and peaceful conduct of general elections, polling for which will be held on 21 October.
