To give fillip to blue revolution in Himachal Pradesh, Centre has approved the establishment of 15 trout hatcheries and 117 trout units for the financial year 2017-18.
Disclosing this Rural development, Panchayati Raj, Animal Husbandry and Fisheries minister Virender Kanwar said that under blue revolution scheme, provision of 40 per cent has been made to provide assistance to general category and 60 per cent aid will be for Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and women.
This grant will be credited directly to the beneficiaries’ bank account at the estimated cost, he added.
The proposal under blue revolution scheme was sent to Central government last year, he said adding that this estimated budget was Rs 1342.96 lakh, out of which 682.77 lakh was part of Centre, which was released during this financial year.
“This amount will be spent on installation of trout units in higher altitude areas of Kullu, Mandi, Shimla, Chamba, Kinnaur, Kangra and Sirmaur and sum of Rs 542.470 lakh will be spent on other works. This will create more employment opportunities for the unemployed youth,” he said.
He said that Rs 4.50 lakh are spent on construction of one trout unit and the beneficiaries are proposed to be given 3 trout units along with trout hatchery.
For this, grant of Rs 15.48 lakh will be provided to general category and Rs 23.10 lakh to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and women, said Virender Kanwar.
Eligible beneficiaries of trout hatchery and trout units have been selected and soon the sanctioned amount will be provided to them, he added.
The minister further said that the projects of total Rs.1083.82 lakh have been proposed to be sent to centre government for the financial year 2018-19 for
approval.
Under the schemes construction of food plant, fish sales centre and training centre, the construction of crab pond and trout units have been proposed in the state and out of this, an amount of Rs. 596.706 lakh is likely to be provided by the Centre, he added.
