CBI court extends judicial custody of 9 cops till 17 May

A Central Bureau of Investigation court on Monday extended the judicial custody of nine police officials who were arrested for allegedly killing an accused in Kotkhai rape and murder case in police custody.

The accused cops including IG Zahur H Zaidi, ex-Shimla SP DW Negi, DSP Theog Manoj Joshi, SHO Rajender Singh, ASI Deep Chand Sharma, Head Constables Surat Singh, Mohan Lal and Rafiq Ali and Constable Ranjit Singh have produced the court on Monday.

The court denied bail to all the accused and extended their judicial custody till 17 May.

The cops were accused of allegedly killing a Nepalese national, Suraj inside police station on the intervening night of 18 to 19 July.

The victim, a Class X girl from Kotkhai, had gone missing while returning home from school on 4 July. Her body was found in the woods on 6 July with multiple injuries on her body. Her autopsy had confirmed that she was raped and strangulated to death.
