Case registered against Asha Kumari for ‘slapping’ constable

A video involving former minister and Congress MLA from Dalhousie, Asha Kumari allegedly slapping a woman constable, amid jostling by Congress workers has gone viral on social media.

During the scuffle, the constable allegedly responded in the similar manner by slapping back the former minister.

Congress President Rahul Gandhi had arrived in Congress office in Shimla for meeting on Friday morning. The incident reportedly occurred when Asha Kumari was said to have been denied entry for the review meeting by Congress President in the midst of huge crowd at the entrance of the venue.

Superintendent of Police, Shimla, Soumya Sambasivan said a case has been registered against Asha Kumari, on a complaint by the constable concerned, under sections 353 and 332 of Indian Penal Code (IPC).

The MLA from Dalhousie Asha Kumari was not available for comments.

Sources said even the Congress President expressed concern over the incident and told the Congress men to have patience.
