Taking a step forward to materialise the much awaited construction of a bypass road here, the local MP Kalikesh Narayana Singdeo met Union Surface Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari and apprised him of the situation.
Singdeo pointed out that the implementation of the 2013 land acquisition act had led to cost escalation of the project and shortage of funds. Singdeo during the meet apprised the minister about the proposed by pass road of Bolangir that would connect two national highway NH 26 and NH 57 that are passing through Bolangir.
He told the Union Minister that earlier sanctioned Rs 40.42 crore wasn’t enough to acquire total 58.27 acre of private land that would falls under the road project. It requires a revised estimate which would be around Rs 241.70 crore, noted the MP.
It may be recalled that last month over the issue of delay in bypass project, members of civil society and Bolangir action committee had staged a dharana and threatened a bandh call over the issue.
