It may be recalled that people of Bolangir have been voicing the demand since decades. The government has ignored the demand.A committee has been formed to agitate the movement and trade union leader Lalit Nayak is the convener of the meeting.
The convenor Lalit Nayak said that Bolangir has a historical record of having a bench of the high court during maharaj’s time.
Even today the Bolangir district judge has been empowered as the ex-officio registrar of high court so the demand of setting up of a high court bench in Bolangir is genuine cause and the high court bench should be revived.
At different times, various committees have recommended Bolangir to be the right place for such a bench, said the committee members while citing the Justice B K Behera report in 1979.
