Ankur had joined the force in 2015 and hailed from Shamli district.
The news of the death of the cop created panic in the department, as a result of which the senior officials rushed to the spot.
Investigation was started immediately and the dead body sent for postmortem. But the officials are tight-lipped on the reason of the death of the constable.
When asked, Pankaj Singh, the Circle officer of Mawana area, confirmed that body was found with two bullet injuries but refused to comment on whether it is a murder case or a suicide.
“The investigation is ongoing and only on its completion we would be able to comment,” he said.
Ankur was on duty on Thursday night but did not report on Friday. In the morning a search for him was initiated when he did not pick the calls of his colleagues.
The police received information that the dead body of a constable was lying inside a sugarcane field, a km away from the police post. They found both of Ankur’s phones inside the police post where he was on duty in the night.
