A  sensational case has come to the light wherein a man murdered his wife in New Delhi and carried the body all the way to Mussoorie for disposal. The semi-decomposed body of the woman was recovered from a ‘khud’ at Hathipaon in Mussoorie on Friday.
Thirty-five year old Shilpi was married to Lalit, a resident of Pritampura in New Delhi. Taking inspiration from Hindi movies, the husband, with the help of two others, allegedly murdered her in Delhi on 3 December. The husband then filed a missing person report at the Rani Bagh police station on 8 December, it is learnt.
According to the police, the missing theory failed to convince the police and Lalit confessed to the crime when questioned. He also named his associates in the crime.
Mussoorie Police’s sub inspector RN Purohit said, “We have recovered the body and sending it for the postmortem to Dehradun.”
A team of Delhi Police had arrived with the main accused Lalit in Mussoorie on Thursday. The Delhi Police team remained tight-lipped and did not interact with the media.
On Friday morning, the police team headed for Hathipaon. Lalit showed the spot from where the Shilpi’s body had been rolled down. The body, wrapped in a bed-sheet, was recovered from a khud near the Nag Mandir.
