The BJP on Wednesday criticised former Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh for his statement on differentiation on the basis of caps and said it was he who differentiates between the colour of caps.
In a joint statement issued on Wednesday, BJP MLAs Rakesh Pathania, Suresh Kashyap and Jeet Ram Katwal said it was Singh who during an incident in Peterhoff, had refused to don a cap when it was presented by his senior minister.

“The people of Himachal are now under the canopy of ‘Vikas Ki Topi’ (cap of development) and the BJP does not believe in cap politics,” they said, adding it was in Congress rule that the people had to wear the green cap to avoid humiliation in the CM’s office.

They said Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur believes in ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas’ (collective efforts, inclusive growth). They said the people were fed up of the “monarchy” of Singh and his style of functioning.
“Congress emptied the state coffers and spent lavishly on a team of more than two dozen political posts of undeserving tired, hired and retired,” they said, adding that the previous government had pushed the state into a debt of Rs 46,500 crore.
