Bihar Governor visits Ayutthaya city in Thailand named after Ayodhya
The Governor is heading a 22-member Indian Delegation that took the holy relics of Lord Buddha for a 26-day exposition in Thailand.
Once a student of the Meerut College Bihar governor Satpal Malik was here to attend a function organised to celebrate 125th year of Meerut College on Thursday.
Malik got a warm welcome by the management of the college and his old friends and juniors, including former presidents of union Jagat Singh and Devendra Pradhan. Students leaders of today Saurabh Singh, Ankit Malik, Nirwan Singh and some party leaders were also there for the welcome.
Malik had studied in Meerut College for five years in 1960s and also started his political career from here after becoming president of Students Union in 1968-69. He originally hails from Hiswada village of district Baghpat. “Like any student, sweet memories of my college life are still fresh in my mind,” said nostalgic Satpal Malik adding that he wish if could live that life again”. Addressing a gathering of students , professors , politicians and others, the Governor explained the importance of education giving examples from the history.

“One should always understand importance of education in life and no society could develop without education,” he said, calling upon intellectuals to come forward with their valuable ideas and suggestions for better education in the country.
Emphasising on the discipline and unity the Governor told the students that unity was must but that should not be unguided and affect peace.
Earlier he garlanded the statues of Dr Ambedkar, Mahatma Gandhi, Subhash Chandra Bose, Ch Charan Singh, Bhagat Singh and paid his tributes to students of the college who sacrificed their lives in wars with China and Pakistan.
