Uttarakhand finally got its regular Director General of Police (DGP) after a gap of almost a year.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Wednesday appointed senior IPS officer Sunil Kumar Bansal as the State’s new Director General of Police (DGP).

Bansal will assume charge as DGP Odisha from incumbent DGP Abhay who will complete his two-year tenure on 31 December.

The 1986-batch IPS officer, Abhay, who will retire on 31 December, was appointed as the director-general of Odisha police (DGP) in November 2019.
Bansal was among the three senior IPS officers shortlisted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) for the new Director General of Police (DGP) of Odisha.
