The Odisha Cabinet has accorded approval to the Industrial Policy Resolution (IPR)-2022 that envisages transformation of the coastal state into “Industrial Hub of Eastern India”. The policy will remain in force for the next five years

The Industrial Policy Resolution (IPR)-2022 will promote industries in thrust and priority sectors of the state, said an official statement, issued by the government on Wednesday, adding that it was approved at the 52nd meeting of the State Cabinet chaired by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Tuesday.

As many as 17 key proposals of 12 government departments were approved by the Cabinet during the meeting.

Besides the IPR, the Cabinet also approved the new Registered Vehicle Scrapping Facility Policy-2022. The policy is expected to play a major role in reducing vehicular air pollution.

As per the new Registered Vehicle Scrapping Facility Policy-2022, all old vehicles that have completed 15 years will be dumped at the scrapping centre. Vehicle owners will get incentives to buy new vehicles with the policy likely to play a major role in reduction of vehicular air pollution in the State.
