Sonepur in western Odisha turned out to be the hottest place in the state recording a maximum temperature of 44.2 degrees Celsius followed by Bolangir (43.6), Jharsuguda (43.5), Sambalpur (43.4), Angul, and Hirakud (43), Sundargarh (42.5), Titilagarh (42.4), Bargarh (41.6), Baripada (40.6), Boudh (40.5), Nayagarh and Malkangiri (40).

As many as 6 weather stations recorded a maximum temperature of 43 degrees Celsius or above, IMD added.
