Bangladesh slashes egg import duties, from 25 to 5 percent
Bangladesh's National Board of Revenue (NBR) Thursday drastically cut import duty on eggs from 25 percent to 5 percent to help rein in prices.
With egg on its face after drawing flak from several quarters, the Bhograi police revoked Section 307 IPC which it had foisted on a lady Rajeswari Kamila for having hurled eggs at the dias while Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik was addressing a public meeting recently.
The Inspector-in-charge of the Marine police station, Jogendra Malik said that after enquiry, the charge of Section 307, attempt to murder, has been dropped. However, other sections 294, 353, 332, 506 and 120(b) are lodged against her.
Meanwhile, the lady who was pushed and allegedly assaulted at the venue was shifted to SCB Medical college and hospital, Cuttack on Tuesday after she complained of pain and other ailments. She had been admitted to the Balasore district headquarter hospital earlier.

“After complaint of vomiting and giddiness she has been referred to SCB medical college and hospital Cuttack. During our previous checkup on Thursday no abnormalities were found. However, on her complaint she was shifted to Cuttack for further investigation and treatment,” the chief district medical officer, Bibekananda Das said.
Following egg throwing incident while Kamila was thrashed by a group of people she was rescued by police and arrested. On Saturday soon after her discharge from district headquarter hospital, she was produced in the local court of Jaleswar and further she was sent to jail after rejection of her bail petition.
She was again admitted in the district headquarter hospital on Sunday night after compliant of pain and uneasiness. The BJP activists in the protest of her arrest alleging police atrocity on Tuesday gheraoed the SP office here in the afternoon .
