Balasore development forum(BDF), a civil society outfit, launched a helpline for senior citizens and announced construction of an old age home here.
The helpline was launched by MP, Mr R K Jena. The dedicated phone number is 9776661702.

“We have a plan to construct a 100 bed old-age home and in the initial phase we will start with 25 beds on the plot donated by Dr Laxmi Rana of Isani village. The BDF will ac quire another 1.5 acres of land and will complete construction work in four monthstime” said president and secretary of the BDA, Bikram Panda and Sairul Haque respectively.

“The helpline number would be operative from 6 am till 10 pm and all the complaints, grievances and problems of the senior citizens would be noted down and efforts will be made to sort out them,” they said.
The other guests were Padmashree Tualsi Munda, social activist Madhusudan Tabolkar and Prof Radhamohan.
The speakers mentioned about various challenges and difficulties the senior citizens were facing in old age.
