Baba Ramdev aims 1000 successors, starts by giving teaching to 88

Baba Ramdev started a special camp in Haridwar on Wednesday. The camp is different as he, along with his deputy Acharya Balkrishna, is hosting a ‘Sanyas Diksha ceremony for sages.’ The Yog Guru has resolved to make India the spiritual superpower by 2050 for which he aims to prepare a team of his 1000 successor (Sanyasi) ascetics. Eighty-eight persons selected from different parts of India underwent the teaching at the newly created Rishi Gram. Termed as the first big ‘Sanyas Diksha ceremony,’ the camp will conclude on March 25 and scholar-wise ascetics receiving the initiation.

Baba Ramdev and his team have started this new exercise to select his successors.  Patanjali Yogpeet press release states, “All the institutions and activities of Patanjali related to yoga, ayurveda, herb, naturopathy, scientific research, Vedic education, cow­ culture, agriculture, construction etc. will be handled by these saints as successors of Swami Ramdev.”

Ramdev is targeting making India the spiritual superpower by 2050. Baba Ramdev says, “All castes are equal, all castes are great. All are born as human beings and do become great by their deeds. Accordingly, these 88 scholar-wise ascetics have been chosen from different provinces of the country and from all communities and sections of society like Brahmin. Vaishya, Kshatriya, Dalit, Backwards, Adivasi, Vanvasi etc.”

The Sanyaka initiation ceremony began in Haridwar on Wednesday with the lessons and sacrifices of the four Vedas. The camp will conclude on the day of Ram Navmi on the banks of the river Ganges, where 88 hermits will receive initiation after the process of Yajna­ Havan.

All the selected scholars have gone through vast and integrated education-initiation and training process in strict discipline. In addition to modern, technical and professional subjects, they are past master in Vedic subjects like Vedas, Puranas, Upanishads etc. as well.
